the games we played...

On a recent shopping spree, I visited the Game Section of a mall and was totally amazed to find some real cool games for the kids which were not just fun but high-tech too ;)..

Anyway, during this visit I got reminded of all the different indoor games that we played during our school summer vacations :-) ... here are some of my favorites games..

Ludo -
This was the post dinner ritual....
Every evening we would play this game... Mom, Dad, Bro and Me... :-) I remember how eagerly we used to wait to start the game ....

Most of the times, I used to lose the game and my bro used to cheat ;) !! Mom would always support my bro and Dad was always on my side :-)... Sometimes we would play just one round and at times we were game for the second one too ...
Ludo is my most favorite game !! Not so much for the game but for the fun times that we spent together ....

The travelling marble game -
I was introduced to this game by my brother and his friends....
Though this is more of a boys' game and is a huge hit amongst them,
nevertheless it was one of my favorite childhood indoor game..

Its quite strange that I dont see the school kids play it anymore .. sigh !!!

Well they surely dont know what they are missing !!

The Game of Business -
This was my first introduction to the world of Trading...I could buy things that I like..could sell things I didnt like .. I made some profits... All on my Own.. !! This just felt great... !!!
I still remember how responsible I would feel handling the card money..
Big money..1000 rupees... aha... :)

The Scotland Yard -
Playing Mr.X was a new High ..
travelling in disguise,
using the transportation for free and hiding from the detectives... WOW !!!

Ofcourse the role of the Detective was quite thrilling too.. for it was nothing short of playing ' Mr.Bond' himself ;)
Love this game and we still play it at times :)

Scotland yard was the last board game that we bought.. Soon it was the age of Video games followed by the computer games .... Contra, prince, tennis were some of my favorite games in that league ....

I really wish the era of the board games returns and we get many more interesting and fun board games that the entire family can play together ...

All these games are certainly favourites of many generations ...

Ludo will always have a special place for me, since I used to play it with my grandma :)

A few more that I have grown up on are Brainvita, Scrabble, Carrom, Bridge and ofcourse CHESS being the supreme favourite ...

Add to that playing cricket and soccer in the rains to complete the semi-circle :)
